Learn More About PFLAG Pawleys Island
We are bringing together the LGBTQ+ affirming community of Georgetown County to create a safe space for all through support education and building awareness
Provide Support – PFLAG meets in person on the 3rd Monday of every month at 6:30pm in Pawleys Island. We also provide periodic programs for special topics and events. We have our annual Family Pride Pizza in the Park event every June to celebrate ALL Families
Offer Education – We provide our Project Safe Zone Workshop free to anyone who requests. Project Safe Zone is our DEI Diversity Equality and Inclusivity program designed to enhanced and promote better understanding and communications. We dive into basic vocabulary, a discussion on binary vs non binary, cis and trans discussion as well as an interactive exercise to explore the concept of privilege not always being a set of advantages but is often a lack of barriers. We also do periodic special programs like suicide prevention training, name change clinic, and others.
Advocate – PFLAG strives to partner with other local and National organizations to educate key decision-makers about the issues that affect our loved ones and families, and to teach others how to use their voices to amplify our efforts toward a more equitable, and just world for the LGBTQ+ community.
